Tailgating

Tailgating, also known as piggybacking, is a physical security breach where an unauthorized person gains entry into a secure area by following closely behind an authorized individual. This often occurs when a person with legitimate access to a restricted area opens a secured door or passes through an access point, and an unauthorized individual slips in without presenting their own credentials or authorization. Tailgating takes advantage of the natural tendency of people to hold doors open for others or the lack of awareness regarding individuals following closely behind them. It can compromise the security of a facility, allowing unauthorized individuals to gain access to sensitive areas or information.
