Information Life Cycle

The information life cycle encompasses stages from creation to disposal:

  1. Creation/Acquisition: Data is generated or acquired.
  2. Processing/Usage: Data is processed and used for various purposes.
  3. Storage: Data is stored considering access and security.
  4. Retrieval: Data is retrieved as needed.
  5. Archiving: Older data is moved to long-term storage.
  6. Retention: Data is retained based on legal or business requirements.
  7. Disposal: Data is securely deleted at end of life.
