The information life cycle encompasses stages from creation to disposal:
- Creation/Acquisition: Data is generated or acquired.
- Processing/Usage: Data is processed and used for various purposes.
- Storage: Data is stored considering access and security.
- Retrieval: Data is retrieved as needed.
- Archiving: Older data is moved to long-term storage.
- Retention: Data is retained based on legal or business requirements.
- Disposal: Data is securely deleted at end of life.
