Cipher Suites

Cipher suites are sets of cryptographic algorithms used for secure communication over the internet.

During an SSL/TLS handshake, the client and server negotiate and agree upon a specific cipher suite to use for encrypting data, authenticating the parties involved, and exchanging encryption keys securely.

Common components of a cipher suite include:

• Encryption algorithm (e.g., AES, 3DES)
• Message authentication code (MAC) algorithm (e.g., HMAC)
• Key exchange algorithm (e.g., RSA, Diffie-Hellman)
• Hash function (e.g., SHA-256, SHA-384)
